Smooth
Valve Caps
I've been talking with Jimmy
Roberts (copperheadz here at HC.com) lately about some different things
to help with some of the little details of our builds. One of these was
a set of different valve adjustment caps for the cam covers on the 750s.
I've seen a bunch of different kinds from back in the 70s and 80s and a
few different styles that are being offered today. In fact Jimmy offers
a bunch of different options for these himself. I wanted something smooth
that more or less blended well with the cam cover. Something that seemed
to be a part of the cover itself. I had the ideas and I knew what I wanted,
but, I'm not a machinist. I've seen Jimmys work before and knew that he
was the man to see. After a few emails back and forth, Jimmy did his thing
and of course, when I got them, they were right on the money. Just as I
had described. These 8 covers don't have an edge or protrusion on the outside
of them. They don't appear to have a way to tighten them ....But they do,
obviously.
On the inside of each one,
Jimmy has machined a slot in order to tighten them from the back side of
the cover It'll be a little more work when you adjust the valves, as you'll
have to remove the entire valve cover to get the caps off. But, I think
thats a small price to pay to get this unique look. I sell these for $100
a set or you can order them directly from Jimmy too at the same price..
either way, a truly unique part for your 750. The pictures I have were
taken when they were mounted to a dull used cover. I'm having them plated
and will show them mounted to a shiney chromed cover soon. You can email
Jimmy at miner230@yahoo.com Or.. you can pm him at http://copperheadz.u.yuku.com/
Also available: Jimmy will make a neat little T-handle that fits the slot
exactly for a little extra if you're interested..
